For over half a century, the Charles County Literacy Council
has been providing free one-on-one tutoring to adults who need to improve their
reading, math or English skills.Over the years, we’ve helped grandparents read to their
grandchildren, working adults get jobs or advance in their careers, immigrants
gain citizenship, and young people join the military service.Unfortunately, many adult learners are now on a waiting list
because we need more tutors. No one needs prior experience tutoring or
teaching: CCLC prepares tutors and offers
support as they work with their adult learners. As readers you know the power of reading and writing to
change lives; as citizens of Charles County, be part of that change. To learn
more about CCLC or to register for an upcoming tutor training session, call
the office at 301-934-6488 or go to the website www.charlescountyliteracy.org. Watch this short, informative video interview and learn more. Interview of Sonja Scharles, former CCLC president
