June events

June is a busy month for CCLC.   JUNE 8 -- CCLC will be at both ArtsFest in La Plata and Cobb Island Day Festival.  Come by and say hello.  Volunteer at the event.  JUNE 15  workshop at 9 am at the United Way House. Last one until September.  Adults of all ages come to us for all different reasons to learn or improve their reading and math skills. Be a part of it. Want to volunteer within your own schedule for as little as 1 hour a week and most importantly make a HUGE difference in someone's live -- tutor an adult.  Call or email CCLC for more details.

Workshop

May meeting

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 7, is our next monthly meeting.  Curious about what we do...come out and learn. Thinking of wanting to volunteer and just for an hour a week. Think you couldn't possibly tutor --  if you can read this, you can tutor.  Truly! Become a part of literacy's motto:  Each One, Teach One. The meeting starts at 7 pm and lasts no more than an hour and half.  We meet at our office in the conference room of the United Way House.  See you there.

April 2 Monthly Meeting

April 2 at 7 pm -- the date to come and learn more about CCLC and what we do by attending our monthly meeting.  Reading, math -- education -- is the key and we make a difference by providing free one-on-one adult tutoring.  Not certain about tutoring; PERHAPS want to volunteer in other ways, come to our meeting and learn.   See you at the United Way House, 10250 La Plata Road (Rt. 488), La Plata, on Tuesday.  Learn from our tutors of the impact CCLC and tutors make on our adult residents of Charles County who cannot read or cannot do simple math problems.  Just imagine not being able to read even this.

March 23 workshop

Yes You Can -- on March 23 is the day to become an adult tutor.  For as little as 52 hours a year you can make a tremendous change in someone’s life.  Imagine helping someone learn to read.  Imagine helping someone improve their math in order to pass the military exam and begin serving our country.  Make that difference by becoming a tutor with the Charles County Literacy Council.  Coordinating within your own schedule, you can help meet the needs for our services within our county of free adult literacy education.  Workshop Saturday, March 23, from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
